Isabelle Daniel is a professor in Earth Sciences at the University Claude Bernard Lyon 1, where she has taught since 1996. She directed the Observatoire des Sciences de l'univers de Lyon from 2015 to 2022 and is vice president of the European Mineralogical Union since 2016. She conducts her research at the Geology Laboratory of Lyon Earth, Planets, Environment in a context very favorable to interdisciplinarity that she particularly likes. Her work mainly in experimental mineralogy ranges from the study of the Earth's interior to microorganisms in the subsurface. She is recognized for the broad spectrum of her research activities, with a fundamental question in mind: the habitability of the Earth and planets and the origin of life. In 2021, she is distinguished by Academic Influence as one of the 10 most influential scientists of the last decade in the field of Earth sciences.
